TigerTel/UTR - Privacy Policy

Call Centre - TigerTel/UTR TigerTel Communications Inc.'s privacy policy has been developed as an extension of our commitment to combine the finest quality of services with the highest level of integrity when dealing with our clients and our clients' customers. The nature of TigerTel's business requires that we receive certain personal information that has been collected by our clients. In other instances, we collect certain personal information on behalf of our clients. In either case, the personal information that we collect is used in strict accordance with the purposes for which it was collected, unless otherwise required or permitted by law. TigerTel is committed to keeping all personal information in its possession secure, up-to-date and confidential. As part of this commitment, we have adopted the Ten Privacy Principles as detailed in the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (Canada) (the "Act") to govern our actions as they relate to the collection, use, and distribution of personal information we may collect.

Types of Personal Information We May Request

TigerTel Communications Inc. collects any information that is necessary to providing our services. This information typically includes names, job titles, municipal and e-mail addresses, telephone and facsimile numbers, banking and financial information and credit references.

We limit our collection of personal information to what is absolutely required to provide you with our services. Nonetheless, the choice to provide us or our clients with personal information is always yours. However, your decision to withhold particular details may limit the services that we or our clients are able to provide and will make it more difficult for us to advise you or suggest an appropriate alternative. If we are unable to accommodate your request based on the information that has been provided to us, we may ask for additional details in order to identify other ways to be of assistance. We may also maintain a file, in electronic and/or paper format, containing personal information that may be used for customer inquiry purposes.

Anonymous/Non-Personal Information

At TigerTel, we routinely collect anonymous/non-personal information, which is information that cannot be associated with or traced back to a specific individual or business entity. For example, our web servers collect certain anonymous/non-personal information automatically when you visit the TigerTel web site, such as which web pages were visited, the type of web browser used, the level of encryptions your browser supports and your Internet Protocol address. Such anonymous/non-personal information is collected for our internal research and analytical purposes to help us ensure that our website is both accessible and relevant.

Using and Disclosing Your Personal Information

We use your personal information to communicate with you and to effectively provide the services you have requested.

We only use personal information for the purposes that have been disclosed to you. If for any reason your information is required to fulfill a different purpose, you will be notified of such purpose and asked for your additional consent before we proceed.

In some instances, such as in the course of a legal proceeding or by court order, we may be required to disclose certain personal information to the proper authorities. Only that information which has been specifically requested by such authorities will be disclosed, and only after we have satisfied ourselves that such disclosure is in fact required by law.

Finally, in those situations where disclosure is legally permissible, such as the collection of a delinquent account by a third party collection agency, an emergency or in circumstances where we have reason to suspect illegal activities, TigerTel will take all steps reasonable in the circumstances to ensure that the party to which such information is disclosed has in place an appropriate privacy policy.

Privacy Officer

If you have any questions about the TigerTel Communications Privacy Policy or have a concern or complaint about privacy, confidentiality or the information handling practices of Tigertel, our employees or service suppliers, please contact the Privacy Officer at privacy@tigertel.com.

TigerTel/UTR Implementation of the Ten Principles of Privacy

Principle 1

Accountability - We are responsible for maintaining and protecting any personal information under our control. In fulfilling this mandate, we have appointed a Privacy Officer who is responsible for ensuring that TigerTel is in compliance with the Ten Privacy Principles, through the education of our employees of their responsibilities with respect to collection, use and distribution of personal information and the ongoing monitoring of the company's compliance with its obligations under the Act and this Privacy Policy.

Principle 2

Identifying Purposes - For the most part, TigerTel collects personal information regarding its clients and its clients' customers in order to fulfill service requirements. Any other purposes for which personal information is collected will be identified either before or at the time such information is collected.

Principle 3

Consent - The knowledge and consent of the person to which the personal information relates is required for the collection, use or disclosure of such personal information, except where otherwise required or permitted by law. In the case of personal information collected directly by TigerTel, this information is collected as an agent for our client who has either requested that we collect in accordance with the consent that you have provided, or alternatively is collected in order to provide specific customer service programs that you have requested.

Principle 4

Limiting Collection - TigerTel limits the collection of personal information to that which is necessary to fulfill our business purposes and responsibilities. To this end, the Privacy Officer has been tasked with the responsibility of reviewing, on a random audit basis, the personal information being requested by our clients and has the authority to require changes where it is determined that the collection of such information is not necessary for the purpose. Furthermore, TigerTel regularly reviews the personal information that has been collected to determine what information is no longer required and to delete such information from our records.

Principle 5

Limiting Use, Disclosure and Retention - TigerTel takes all reasonable steps to ensure that all personal information collected is done with the knowledge of the individual to whom it relates and is used only for the purpose collected, unless otherwise required or permitted by law. TigerTel does not sell personal information to any third parties.

Principle 6

Accuracy - Decisions are often made based on the information we have. Therefore TigerTel uses its best efforts to ensure that all personal information collected and maintained is accurate, complete and up-to-date. To assist us in keeping your personal information up-to-date, we encourage you to provide us with up-to-date information in order to help us ensure such accuracy. Should we identify any incorrect or out-of-date information in your file, we will advise you and make the proper changes.

Principle 7

Safeguarding Personal information - In addition to ensuring that it complies with all of its obligations with respect to the collection, use and distribution of personal information, TigerTel is responsible for ensuring that all personal information maintained is safeguarded against unauthorized access or release. TigerTel uses current technologies and maintains security standards to ensure that your personal information is protected against unauthorized access, disclosure, inappropriate alteration or misuse. Electronic client files are kept in a secured environment with restricted access. Paper-based files are also stored in restricted access areas.

We manage our server environment appropriately and our firewall infrastructure is strictly adhered to. Our security practices are reviewed periodically and we employ current technologies to assist us in protecting the confidentiality and privacy of your information.

In the course of daily operations, we attempt to restrict access to personal information to authorized employees who have a legitimate business purpose and reason for accessing it. As a condition of their employment, all employees are required to abide by the privacy standards we have established and to follow all applicable laws and regulations. Employees are also required to work within the principles and ethical behavior as set out in our internal Code of Ethics. Employees are informed about the importance of privacy and they are required to sign a confidentiality agreement that prohibits the disclosure of any customer information to unauthorized individuals or parties. Unauthorized access to and/or disclosure of customer information by an employee is strictly prohibited. All employees are expected to maintain the confidentiality of personal information at all times and failing to do so will result in appropriate disciplinary measures, which may include dismissal.

Principle 8

Disclosure - Any proposed use of personal information other than in the ordinary course of our business will be disclosed at the time it is collected or prior to such use, and only with the specific consent of the person to which such information relates. In addition to making its Privacy Policy available on its website, a paper copy of it may be obtained upon written request to the Privacy Officer at the address set out below.

Principle 9

Customer Access - As a customer, you have the right to access, verify and amend the information held in your personal files. Upon request, a customer shall be informed of the existence, use and disclosure of their personal information, and shall be given access to it. It is TigerTel's desire that customers continuously verify the accuracy and completeness of their personal information, and may request that it be amended at any time.
